What is Cognitive Dissonance
Trying to understand why liberal family and friends just can’t grasp what is happening to our country and world???
I want to talk about something that I think is really important for us to understand as we try to make sense of what's happening in the world around us. It's called cognitive dissonance.
Now, I know that might sound like a big, fancy word, but really it just means that sometimes our brains can get really confused when we encounter information that doesn't match up with what we already believe to be true.
It's a feeling of discomfort or tension that arises when we encounter information that challenges our beliefs or values.
Now, let's think about how this might apply to current world events. There are a lot of things happening in the world right now that can be really confusing and upsetting. Maybe you see news stories about wars, or deep state, or political conflicts, and you're not sure what to believe or how to feel about them.
In these situations, it's easy to feel overwhelmed or even hopeless. But it's important to remember that cognitive dissonance is a normal part of how our brains process information. It doesn't mean that we're stupid or that we're wrong for feeling a certain way.
Whatever the case may be, it's okay to feel confused or conflicted sometimes. It's a sign that our brains are working hard to make sense of the world around us. And if we can learn to embrace that discomfort and use it as a catalyst for growth and learning, we'll be better equipped to navigate the challenges and uncertainties of the world we live in. Stay strong patriots!!
