Gaslighting

Gaslighting is a form of emotional abuse that involves manipulating someone to doubt their own perceptions and memories. It can happens in personal relationships and of course the media and politics. The term "gaslighting" comes from the 1944 film "Gaslight," in which a husband manipulates his wife into thinking she's going insane. I had to dig deep for that nugget.

Gaslighting has taken many forms, such as denying facts, twisting the truth, or blaming the victim for things that are not their fault. It can be difficult to recognize at first, but over time it can erode a person's confidence and sense of self.

Ultimately, coping with gaslighting from the media requires a combination of critical thinking, self-care, and our community support. By being self aware, informed, staying hyper-connected, and sticking to your own values and beliefs, you can protect yourself mindset. Ultimately the truth will prevail and we all know that!
